Every body needs a coach whether you are a gymnast, a tennis player or a bridge player. We all need people that will give us feedback that’s how we will improve. Unfortunately there is one group of people who do not get feedback in the world and these people have one of the most important job in the world. I’m talking about teachers.
When we were young, we looked to our teachers as the fountain of wisdom but the way the education system was set we were taught not to debate or question the theories we were being taught. As consumers of the service of Education, I believe we were better placed to give our teachers feedback.
Unfortunately Ministries and Education Bodies were set up to represent and give feedback about a service they were not currently consuming.
So today I have compiled 7 TedTalks with the hopes of making a difference in the Education system by sending suggestions of what could help your way
Enjoy š
# 1 The toxic culture of education
Gives jobs to the educated and ignores the uneducated who end up underemployed or self employed
# 2 Teach teachers how to create magic
Allow teachers to copy Pentecoastal Church Pastors, allow them to go to Hip Hop Concerts and see how these rappers engage their audiences just with word play and nothing more. That’s where the magic is.
# 3 Every Kid needs a Champion
A person who will believe in them beyond odds. Someone who will be mother or father when their is none at Home.
# 4 The Key to Success
Success can only be measured by a persons grit to stay on even when the conditions are bad not by a test or an exam.
#5 Our Failing Schools. Enough is Enough!
I went to school 56 years ago and there were some lousy schools which are still lousy today. Technology has changed, children are no longer getting lame from Polio but the Education system has not yet changed!
#6 Teachers need real Feedback
Every body needs a coach whether you are a gymnast, a tennis player or a bridge player. We all need people that will give us feedback that’s how we will improve. Unfortunately there is one group of people who do not get feedback in the world and these people have one of the most important job in the world. I’m talking about teachers.
#7 My story, from gangland to start Teacher
My Dad was a gang member, everybody knew who i was in the neigbourhood and for sometime it was cool. But the day i found my Dad convulsing on the bathroom floor and forming around the mouth I was scared and certainly home work wasn’t the first thing on my mind that night. Children like us need a support system in school.
